Breed to Compete...
Envisioning a growing need for a major league breeding program in Delaware, Joe and JoAnn Thomson created a state-of-the-art breeding facility at the convenient crossroads of Delaware and Maryland, near Pennsylvania and New Jersey, in suburban Middletown, DE. Since its inception, Winbak of Delaware quickly has earned a winner's championship tradition.
In Delaware, the modern-day Winbak Farm has quickly earned glowing praise. Winbak of Delaware boasts an outstanding roster of young and productive stallions, five are standout pacers and three are stakes winning trotters.
Two of the Winbak of Delaware stallions are World Champions as well as Breeders Crown winners. The others are impeccably bred and handsome individuals. Today, not only in Delaware, but also in Maryland, New York, Ontario, Pennsylvania, and Maine, Winbak Farms' stallions serve in strategically located, important harness racing sire stakes programs.
Raise to Win!
The pacing standouts are Badlands Hanover p, 2,1:50 ($754,772) and trotter CR Commando 2,1:53.2 ($492,844), the fastest two-year-olds in standardbred history. Again for the 2007 season, each will stand for an attractive fee for a live foal.
After their first four seasons, pacer, Badlands Hanover, and trotter, CR Commando have earned overwhelming success in the lucrative Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) events, dominating both the pacing and trotting stakes.
Their progeny have also been successful in Grand Circuit events. This success has made them the most popular stallions in Delaware. Horsemen agree their colts and fillies have exceptional looks, good size and the ability to get to the races.
Not to be overlooked are the other Winbak of Delaware proven pacing stallions - Powerful Toy p,2,1:52.4f; 3,1:51.1-1:51.2h ($868,657), a royally bred son of Jate Lobell from a World Champion race mare Toylee Hanover by Albatross. Powerful Toy was a highly regarded stakes winning colt, and the only performer to win both the Matron Two-Year-Old and Matron Three-Year-Old finals and to also win the prestigious Progress Pace as well. Powerful Toy stands for a modest fee of $2,500 for a live foal.
A Million Dollar winner, Three Olives p, 2, 1:52.3; 3,1:51 ($1,022,801) stands his third season as a Winbak of Delaware stallion in 2007. A super fast stakes winning two-year-old and winner of the Windy City Pace at three, Three Olives possesses the ingredients of an outstanding stallion. A son of Jenna's Beach Boy, one of the greatest and richest pacers of all time and already a noted sire, Three Olives also stands for a fee of $2,500.
Shotgun Scott p,3, 1:51 ($246,770), by Western Hanover, has quickly displayed an ability to sire fast, hard hitting colts and fillies. After returning to Delaware after a short period standing in Maryland, Shotgun Scott has sired Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund champion Next Flight, p, 1:52.1, winner of a $100,000 DSBF Final.
Three Wizzards p,2,1:54;1:56h; 3,1:52.2f ($815,154), formerly one of the top stallions in the New York State breeding program, is a former Breeders Crown champion and leading son of legendary pacer Albatross. Three Wizzards now stands in Delaware for a fee of $2,500.
