Breed to Compete...

During the 20th century, the famed Armstrong Bros. Farm in Inglewood, Ont. was the capital of standardbred breeding in Canada. Today, the 100-acre facility has been brought into the 21st century and is the home of Winbak of Canada.

With the immediate success and popularity of the multi-facetted Ontario Sire Stakes programs for both trotting and pacing colts and fillies, Winbak Farm-owner Joe Thomson saw the need of stallions of the highest quality, in performance, pedigree and physical stature, to serve the needs of Canadian breeders.

With an outstanding performance record at it other first-class facilities in Delaware, Maryland and in New York, and standing fashionable stallions in Pennsylvania and Maine, Thomson assembled a big-league team, strong in experience with a strong Canadian tradition to manage the major league breeding operation. Already the modern Winbak of Canada Farm has become one of favorite destinations for Canadian and U.S. bred broodmares.

Larry Drysdale, who formerly was yearling manager for Armstrong Bros., was named farm manager to direct the daily activities.
