Touch converted off a pocket trip to capture the featured $6,500 Winners Over Pace and give driver Gord Brown and trainer Gerard Demers their third victory together on Sunday evening at Rideau Carleton Raceway.

Braving the -17 degree temperatures, Slight Touch ($7.20) was unable to out-sprint Web Cam off the gate and followed him through fractions of :27.3, :57.4 and 1:27.2. However, Brown launched Slight Touch from the pocket heading into the stretch to overtake the pacesetter and drew three lengths clear for the 1:56.3 triumph. Favourite Anderlecht rallied wide to come on from the backfield and make it a two-three finish for the John MacMillan stable.

Slight Touch, a five-year-old gelded son of Badlands Hanover, is owned by Catheline Pelletier of Mirabel, Que. and Les Ecuries Gld Inc. of Papineauville, Ont.

Prior to the mid-card feature, Brown and Demers had won back-to-back races with Santannas Gal ($5) and Pondo Ruba ($15.90).

The Jamie Copley stable also had a big night at the track and went three-for-three on the 12-race card thanks to winning performances by Shiny Mach ($5.10), Lucky Taryn ($10.50) and Doing Some Damage ($12.90).
