One early non-wagering event will be conducted before the betting card starts at 5:30 p.m., featuring undefeated pacer I’m Won Rum Wiser for owners George and Tina Dennis and The Wiz Kids Stable. The Headmaster-sired filly has won both of her previous starts, including a 1:58.4 win in the first leg of DSBF action last week. Trained by George Dennis, she will head a six horse field from post five. The early non-wagering event will be conducted at 4:50 p.m.
On the wagering card, two divisions will go postward as Del Cote-trained Treasure Valley (2-1, Corey Callahan) looks to build on a third place finish last week from post two in the first division, slated fourth on the 15-race program. The partnership of Henry Farragalli, T P Johnson, and Joe Thomson share ownership of the filly.
An impressive winner last week, Garnet O’Marrow’s Seboomook Fool Yah (2-1, Allan Davis) is the one to beat in the second division (eighth race). The Wayne Givens trainee was a two length winner in her elimination a week ago and drew post six.
The pacing colts do battle Tuesday with an additional three divisions. Just like the fillies, one will be contested off the wagering program.
The headliner has to be the eighth race which will feature a showdown between the two most impressive colts so far in the DE program, Winbak Farm’s Hawker (8-5, Jeff Fout) and Karen Walls’ Elite Awards (2-1, George Dennis). Both colts have two previous wins and have not raced against each other previously. Hawker, a son of the first crop of Artzina, had a 1:56.4 triumph in his division last week while Powerful Toy gelding Elite Awards came from off the pace to score a five length win in 1:56.3. Hawker drew the pole, while Elite Awards will start from post two.
In the remaining betting division on the program, a wide open field of seven goes postward in the fourth race. No divisional winners are in the field but Cavalli Pazzi Stables’ Casino Bags Carlo (5-2, Vince Copeland) was installed as the morning line favorite after a runner-up finish to Elite Awards last week. The Copeland trainee drew post two.
In the early non-betting division at 4:50 p.m., Lloyd Gilmour’s Above The Storm (Victor Kirby) drew the rail and was a divisional winner last week, heading a field of seven Tuesday for trainer Jim Coughlin.
Wednesday is trot day as five divisions will be in action, starting in the second race on the 15-race program. Bryan Truitt’s Way Over Paid (2-1, Truitt) will look to atone for a break last week at odds-on from post two. Truitt also trains and drives the son of Great George Two. Elimination winner Kelsey’s Commando (3-1, Kirby), owned by Richard Lombardo, JJ&M Stable and Pam Wagner, drew post seven for trainer Gary Green.
The second filly division will go postward as the fourth race, as Betty Chambers’ Canterbury Girl (2-1, Ross Wolfenden) will look to sweep her eliminations after a 2:06.3 triumph last week.
Three colt divisions will commence beginning in race six. The field is void of previous eliminations winners but Carlo Poliseno’s Briefs Or Boxers (2-1, Poliseno) is the early choice after a third place finish last week. Poliseno also trains and drives the Political Briefing gelding.
Winbak Farm’s Call Me Hal (2-1, Jeff Fout) will look to build on a runner-up performance last week in the second division for trainer Fout.
In the final division (10th race), three elimination winners will square off, headed by Nanticoke Racing, Henry Faragalli and TP Johnson’s LG’s Pride (2-1, Jim Morand) who was victorious via a wire-to-wire effort last week for trainer Les Givens in 2:04.2. Winbak Farm’s Winbak Charles M (3-1, Fout) also won his division last week in 2:05.2. Art Stafford, Jr. and Eli Beiler’s Bosston Bnz (6-1, Art Stafford, Jr.) was an upset winner in his elimination and is among the field of six.
The $100,000 DSBF finals will be conducted on closing week at Harrington Raceway from Oct. 21-23.
