Scott Coulter rushed Cluster Hanover to the lead at the mid-way point of Monday’s $11,000 Preferred 2 for pacers at Grand River Raceway, and it proved to be the winning move for the gelding.

Cluster Hanover got away third from Post 4 and watched as Mckinney threw down an opening quarter clocked in a :28-second clip. Coulter stepped on the gas pedal in the second quarter with Cluster Hanover, who sprinted to the lead at the mid-way point in :56.2. Once on the lead, the Barry Treen pupil rolled the field to the three-quarter pole in 1:24.4 before using a :29.4 kicker to win by a head over race favourite Regal Babe in 1:54.3. Ufdragons Rocket was a lapped-on third in the evening’s main event.

Sent off at odds of 7-2, the four-year-old son of Badlands Hanover-Clouding Over won for the fifth time this season for owners Jeff and Debbie Elchuk of Surrey, BC. The nine-time winner upped this year’s earnings to $35,480 while his lifetime total climbed to $177,645.
