The baby races continued at the Meadowlands Racetrack on Saturday morning with some well-bred future stars turning in top performances.
I Luv The Nitelife topped the pacers with a 1:57.3 winning effort in her second qualifier for trainer Chris Ryder. She sat sixth through early fractions of :28.3, :57.2, and 1:28.3 before unleashing a :27.3 final frame to come on for the one length victory. The filly is sired by Rocknroll Hanover and is out of Lisjune, who is a half-sister to double millionaire Lis Mara and Lis Again ($637,156). She was purchased for $60,000 at the 2011 Lexington Selected Sale by Richard and Joanne Young of Coconut Creek, Florida.
Among the pacing winners was the half-brother to $4,143,492-earner Mister Big. Trond Smedshammer trainee Senor Grande rallied home in :27.2 to win his second qualifier by a nose in 2:00.4. The Art Major-Worlds Sweetheart colt was purchased for $147,000 at the 2011 Lexington Selected Sale by Purple Haze Stables LLC, Fairport, New York.
Also winning their pacing races were filly Giannas Delight (Bettors Delight-Sherry) in 1:58.3 for trainer Nikolas Drennan, and colt Winbak Whammy (Royal Mattjesty-Double Flip) in 1:59.1 for conditioner Richard 'Nifty' Norman.
On the trotting side, Haul N Fanny was the fastest winner with a 2:00.2 front end effort. The Cantab Hall-Imyourbiggestfan filly carved out fractions of :30.3 1:02.3, and 1:33 in her second baby race before drawing away to a six length tally with :27.2 final frame. Driver David Miller and trainer Misty Miller of Cream Ridge, New Jersey purchased the bay filly for $30,000 at the 2011 Harrisburg Sale.
Other trotting winners were filly Who Dat Girl (Muscles Yankee-Poster Pin Up) in 2:02.4 for Smedshammer; and colts Spider Blue Chip (Andover Hall-Southwind Catlin) in 2:01.1 for conditioner Chuck Sylvester; and Winemaster Hanover (Donato Hanover-Wishful Me) in 2:01.2 for Drennan.
