Melinda Giroso, along with a group of friends, are trying to help promote the Standardbreds as a useful breed after there done racing. She has broken a number of them to ride for herself and others. She actually led the post parades at ocean downs on back to the track night.
"I give them a lot of credit as they have taken on this cause on their own and are funding it all themselves," said Brett Herzog.
Powergirl's Ztam was raised at Winbak Farm, but bred by John Celli. The three-year-old is currently racing and has earned over $17,000. Her sire, Badlands Hanover, stands at Winbak of Ontario and is now the sire of earners of $42,730,458.
