Fantastic MVP overcame his outside post position for a maiden-breaking victory in a $7,200 division of the Prospect Series for two-year-old trotting colt and geldings on Sunday afternoon (July 24) at Clinton Raceway.

Parked out leaving from post seven in rein to Anthony Haughan, Fantastic MVP worked his to the top by the quarter pole, reached in :31.1 over the 'good' track, then cruised through middle splits of 1:03.2 and 1:35.2 without any serious threats en route to the victory in 2:06.4. Danangus N Donald (Donald Rankin Jr.) chased the winner home from the pocket but couldn't get closer than 1-3/4 lengths. Roman Gallery (Tyler Borth) followed in third.

Fantastic MVP paid $5.60 to win as the 9-5 second choice. The 6-5 favourite, P C Mercury Rising (Curtis Clements), recovered from a break in stride at the start and finished fourth.

Carl Jamieson trains Fantastic MVP, a gelded son of My MVP with five starts under his belt, and shares ownership with Brian Paquet of Quebec City, Que. 

Prospect Series action returns to Clinton Raceway next Sunday (July 31) with two-year-old pacing fillies in competition. Next Sunday is also Dollar Day and Caretaker Appreciation Day at Clinton Raceway. Fans can enjoy dollar hot dogs, ice cream and programs all afternoon long. Racing action gets underway at 1:30 p.m. (EDT).
