The $36,000 Mohawk Preferred Trot lived up to the billing on Monday (Nov. 18), as millionaires Logan Park and Amigo Volo slugged it out to the wire with the former prevailing in 1:52.4.

Logan Park and driver Doug McNair floated out from post six as the 4-5 favourite while Amigo Volo (driven by James MacDonald) swept around Safe Conduct (Chris Christoforou) to cut the quarter in :27.2. Parked on the first turn, Logan Park pressed on to the lead on the backstretch, taking over from Amigo Volo at the half in :56.3. McNair rated Logan Park on the final turn, reaching the three-quarter pole in 1:25.4 with Amigo Volo in hot pursuit.

The sprint for home commenced at the top of the lane, with MacDonald tipping off the McNair helmet and Fashion Frenzie (Louis-Philippe Roy) looking to join the fray widest of all. Amigo Volo gained steadily in deep stretch, but Logan Park held the challenger at bay by a head on the line, scoring in 1:52.4 with the ear plugs still in place. Fashion Frenzie got up for the show spot.

Kyle Fellows trains Logan Park who has won 11 of 18 in his six-year-old campaign, banking $718,233 on the year. The victory was the 35th lifetime victory for the gelded son of Archangel-Rite Outa The Park and pushed his career bankroll to $1.787 million for owners Outofthepark Stable, Reg Higgs and Arpad Szabo.

The win was one of two training victories on the night for Fellows, having won the third race with Bella Cavalla ($18, 1:54).
