>Alexachase overwhelmed seven harness racing rivals to win the $16,000 Mares Winners-Over while Scootndowntheriver scooted down the inside in the $15,000 distaff sub-feature at Dover Downs on Monday, Nov. 19.

Racing outside for almost three quarters, Bret Brittingham kept Alexachase live alongside front-pacing Freedom Crossing (Corey Callahan) until taking the lead after entering the homestretch. The smallish Johnny and Kimberley Waite-owned four-year-old daughter of Bettor’s Delight-Jett Away won for the fourth time this year upping her seasonal earnings to $40,135 and $196,859 lifetime.

Alice’s Restaurant (Vic Kirby) closed with a rush to finish second with Freedom Crossing holding on for third.

The win was the second for trainer Johnny Waite. His nine-year-oldMan About Town-Eyre Time won an $11,500 Mares pace in 1:53 giving driver Allan Davis his second win of the day. Eyeseefame (Matt Kakaley) was runner-up with Eastwood Aurora N (Vic Kirby) third.

Montrell Teague and Scootndowntheriver saved the best for last coming along the inside to get up in 1:53.2 in the $15,000 3,4&5-Filly and Mare pace. Whistler Seelster (George Dennis) was right there second. Pacific Date (Allan Davis) was the show finisher. The winner is a Riverboat King –Prymetyme Scootie three-year-old owned and trained by George Teague.

The track’s leading-driver Corey Callahan, second-place Ross Wolfenden and Ben Stafford Jr. each won three races while Allan Davis had a double. Trainer Ben Stafford Jr. haltered three winners, Josh Green and Johnny Waite had doubles. Owner Ben Stafford also had two winners.

This week, there is racing Tuesday and Wednesday, but no live racing on Thanksgiving day Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Weekday races begin at 4:30 p.m. Sunday post time is 5:30 p.m. There is no charge for parking or admission.

Simulcasting of leading harness and thoroughbred racing and NFL 3-game parlay wagering is offered daily in the Dover Downs Race Book from 12 Noon to 12 Midnight. Reservations are suggested for the Winner's Circle Restaurant.
