NEWS AND INSIGHT ON WINBAK FARM

Stories are from the leading industry news sources.

from the first crop of double World Champion and double millionaire Vintage Master are now arriving daily, and from all reports, breeders both north and south of the Canadian border are quite pleased with their overall conformation and size.

Brittany Farms manager Art Zubrod said the Vintage Master colt he has on the Kentucky farm “is the kind of foal you hope for when making the booking.”

“I’m very pleased with the amount of leg and size. And this colt has an interesting pedigree, as he’s out of Major Harmony (by Art Major), making him line-bred 2 x 4 to the great racemare and producer Napa Valley.

“Regarding the Vintage Master foals, I’ve heard similar good reports from the breeders who’ve contacted us. ‘Strong and correct’ is the way many describe them,” he added.

Vintage Master p,2,1:57.4; 3,1:49.2f-1:50.4h; 4,1:48.1f ($2,160,953), by Western Ideal-Art’s Vintage (Artsplace), stands in Ontario at Winbak Farm of Canada. Despite the setbacks, the show in Ontario will certainly go on. Plans call for the sire stakes program to move forward and, more than likely, with less foals racing for the money.

At a fee of $3,500 Cdn., Vintage Master offers solid value to those planning to race in the OSS as well as Grand Circuit stakes.

He’s from the sire line that has produced Rocknroll Hanover, American Ideal and last fall’s Harrisburg yearling leader Well Said, and he descends from the maternal line of Hall of Fame mare Silk Stockings.

He’s got more than enough class to sire on, as he earned over $2,000,000 and was a double World Champion, a classics winner at 3, and FFA standout at 4. As his Hall of Fame trainer Jimmy Takter said, “He gave it everything he had, every time he stepped on the track. I can’t think of a horse I liked more than him.”
