A set of $11,000 Preferred 2 events highlighted the Monday evening card at Grand River Raceway, with Adkins Hanover and Dancehall Mistress taking home top honours in their respect assignments.


Adkins Hanover shot to the top from Post 7 and romped away from seven pacing foes in the Horses & Geldings Preferred 2 event. Trevor Henry hustled the Richard Moreau pupil through fractions of :27, :55.2 and 1:23.3 before using a :29.1 closing quarter to win by 6-1/4 lengths over race favourite Forego The Cigar in 1:52.4. Rounding out the top three finishers was My Friend Diaz.


Ecurie Richard Moreau Inc, Sylvain Descheneaux and Gaston Bibeau share ownership on the five-year-old son of Western Ideal-Allamerican Nadia, who won for the fifth time this season from just 10 trips to the track. The 10-time winner boosted his bankroll to $85,312 with the win.


Dancehall Mistress used last second heroics en route to taking home top prize in the Preferred 2 for trotters. Stuart Sowerby got away seventh with the Brad Maxwell-trained mare who sat fourth over in the middle stages of the mile before using a :29-second closing quarter to sweep to the front. She drew clear to win by 2-3/4 lengths over Zorgwijk Jock in 1:58.2. Taking home third prize was Tornado Tim.


David Goodrow Stable, Doug Millard and Glenn Tarver share ownership on the OSS graduate who now boasts a career bankroll of $268,770. The five-year-old daughter of Angus Hall-Benns Riverdance won for the fourth time this season and for the 13th time in her career.
