Wilkes-Barre, PA --- The final day of Grand Circuit Week at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs saw four 2-year-olds out of the George Teague, Jr. Stable finding the winner’s circle.
With a heavy downpour creating a sloppy track on Monday (July 12), the first of the Teague winners was heavy favorite Custard The Dragon, piloted by David Miller. Custard The Dragon grabbed the lead at the three-eighths marker and finished the mile with a time of 1:57.2 in the second division of the Solicitor-W.N. Reynolds Memorial for the 2-year-old pacing colts and geldings. Big Blabbermouth (Andy Miller) was second, two lengths back of Custard The Dragon, with third place going to Fameous Western (Brett Miler).
David Miller also drove Real Trell to a 1:56.2 victory for Teague in the fifth of eight Solicitor divisions. Second went to Joe Pa’s PE III (Tom Jackson), a half-length back, while Major Secret (Joe Pavia, Jr.) was third.
In the very next division, it was Wink N Atcha (Brian Sears) winning for Teague. Time of this mile was 1:56.2. One America (Ron Pierce), another horse trained by Teague, finished second in this race. Sears got the two-hole trip behind stablemate One America.
In the seventh division, Teague also found the winner’s circle with Sears in the bike with Reckless Ric. Reckless Ric paced the mile in 1:55.2 over the off track.
Brass Cap, driven by Andrew McCarthy and trained by Noel Daley, was impressive in his first life start off one qualifying effort of 1:57.2 at the Meadowlands. A 4-1/2 length winner, Brass Cap stopped the timer in 1:55 as the 7-5 favorite. Wink And Nod, a 27-1 longshot, was second to Brass Cap with Rattler Quick (Tim Curtin) third.
