>Harrington Hosts More DSBF Splits

Four divisions of two-year-old trotters competed in $20,000 divisions Sunday in the second leg of the Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) stakes at Harrington Raceway. The $100,000 finals for both pacers and trotters will take place Monday October 25.

In the first division for colts, Winbak Farm and Leblanc Racing’s Obey The Command (Brad Hanners) was a 2:06.3 winner with a front end effort that held off a fierce late rally from Big Award. The Steve Leblanc winning trainee is sired by CR Commando.

Legacy Racing of Delaware, Sharon White and Blake Baker’s First Captain (Ross Wolfenden) took the second division for colts in 2:03.4 for trainer Wayne Givens. It was the second straight win in DSBF action for First Captain, also sired by CR Commando.

Meanwhile, on the fillies side, Nanticoke Racing and Jim Morand’s Overnight Command (Morand) overcame an early break in stride to recover and prevail in the first division with a 2:06.1 victory. The CR Commando filly is trained by Les Givens.

In the remaining division, Serendipity Stable’s Political Starlet (Ross Shand) was a repeat winner for trainer Tui Stone with a front-stepping 2:04 win. The Political Briefing filly improved to 2-for-5 in her young career.
