Upsets Meadows Preferred

Spring Break made the right move at the right time as she buried her main rival at the pylons and went on to a 9-1 upset victory in Friday’s $22,500 Filly & Mare Preferred Handicap Pace at The Meadows.

Spring Break was third along the cones, with 7-10 favourite Jans Luck on her bumper, when Mike Wilder asked her for pace. She quickly collared the leader, Rev Me Up, and initiated a cover stream that kept Jans Luck pinned inside. Spring Break triumphed by 2-3/4 lengths in 1:53.1 over a “sloppy” track while Allswelthatendswel outkicked the unlucky Jans Luck for place.

Randy Bendis trains Spring Break, a seven-year-old Dream Away-Siobhan mare, who now boasts $618,171 in career earnings, for Joann and Joe Thomson of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania.
