Campbellville, ON --- Anndrovette pulled off a shocker in the C$100,000 A Spring Of Hope Mares Invitational on Saturday night (September 3) at Mohawk Racetrack.

The Mark Kesmodel trainee notched her seventh victory of the season in 14 outings in gate-to-wire fashion.

With Tim Tetrick in the sulky, the 4-year-old mare cut the mile through fractions of :26.3, :55 and 1:22.3. Anndrovette opened up a 2-1/2 length lead to stop the teletimer in 1:50. Rock N Soul (Yannick Gingras) finished second with Maureen Rocks (Scott Zeron) rounding out the triactor.

“I wanted to go forward and luckily I fell third or fourth on the outside,” said Tetrick, following the win. “The (Ron) Burke horse (Rock N Soul) was on the front (before the first quarter) so I went and moved her to the front. I got a decent second quarter then my mare is big and strong and she could carry her speed the rest of the way.”

Tetrick may have had a 1-1/2 length lead in the stretch, but he was still keeping his eyes open for last year’s Canadian Horse of The Year and 1-2 favorite, Dreamfair Eternal.

“Dreamfair, you always got to watch for her,” he said. “She is definitely a nice mare and she is hard to beat. At the Meadowlands there she beat us both times (in the Lady Liberty and Golden Girls). Today we got the better of her and I’m sure she wasn’t on her game since she got a good tip and had no go. Luckily I was in the right spot at the right time.”

The daughter of Riverboat King-Easy Miss is one of harness racing’s newest millionaires. The victory lifted her career earnings to C$1,014,937. Anndrovette has a lifetime record of 17-2-6 in 38 starts. The bay is owned by New Jersey’s Jeffrey Bamond and Joseph Davino. She paid $19 to win as the upsetter.
