Teagues win six on Monday at Harrington as DSBF elims continue

Harrington, DE --- The second leg of Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund stakes action for 2-year-old pacers is in the books after seven divisions were held on Monday evening (Oct. 17) at Harrington Raceway.

There were four divisions for fillies and three for colts.

Ed Walls’ Designer Bags ($2.10, Allan Davis) completed a sweep of her elims with a 1:58.3, front end win in the first division. The Roddy’s Bags Again-Alyshima filly improved to four-for-six in her career for trainer David Rearic.

Badlands Racing and Leblanc Racing’s No Picnic ($2.10, Ross Wolfenden) was also a repeat elimination winner for trainer Steve Leblanc. The Badlands Hanover-Michiko filly scored a 1:57.2 triumph for her third win in five career starts.

The third filly division was the fastest of the night and went to Pres Burris and David Hanauer’s Genie’s Genie ($8.00, Tony Morgan). Genie's Genie parlayed a two hole trip to victory in 1:57.1 for the second straight start for trainer Lorie Davis. A daughter of Badlands Hanover-Backslash, both of her career wins have come in DSBF action.

The final filly division was won by Ben Stafford’s Mama Said ($5.20, Ben Stafford, Jr.) who broke her maiden with a 1:59.1 win. She was the third Badlands Hanover filly to taste victory Monday. Ben Stafford trains the daughter of Badlands Hanover-Bristol Stomp.

Meanwhile, Gary and Barbara Iles’ Shaving Mug ($2.20, Montrell Teague) was the first of the colt winners with a convincing 1:56.1 score. It was one of six winners on the card for trainer George Teague, Jr. and driver Montrell Teague. Shaving Mug (Badlands Hanover-Pocket Comb) and stablemate Majorly Bad ($4.00, Badlands Hanover-Dance Major) both won their divisions impressively as the latter was a 1:56.4 victor for owner/trainer George Teague, Jr.

Flying Instructor ($3.40, Eddie Davis, Jr.) was a first-over winner in his elimination, powering to a 1:56.1 victory for trainer Wayne Givens. The Badlands Hanover-Daylon Flyer colt notched his third win of the year.

In the overnight feature, Jeremy’s Successor ($16.80, Sean Bier) prevailed in the $22,500 Open in 1:52.3.
