Dover, DE ---Penny Paratrooper was the only favorite to win her Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund 2-year-old filly trot first leg preliminary while Cuddle Punk and Silence Is Bliss proved surprise winners in the other two trots on a strong Monday (Nov. 10) card at Dover Downs. Corey Callahan drove five winners.

Ross Wolfenden guided Carlo Poliseno and Foulk Racing Stable’s Penny Paratrooper, a daughter of CR Commando-CR Penny Lane, to her third win in four starts this season, covering the mile in 2:01 in the first $20,000 DSBF prelim. I Got Spunk (Corey Callahan) was a strong second while 23-1 shot Princess EB (Vic Kirby) got up for third.

In the second DSBF event, Marvin Meyer’s homebred Cuddle Punk, by Super Punk-My Embrace, came on for Allan Davis to post her first career victory in 2:02.3. Sparkle Pants (Eddie Dennis) bested Ohtobequeen (George Dennis) for second. Gogh On was an early scratch.

Silence Is Bliss, a CR Commando-Miss Courtney filly, was heard from in the third $20,000 trot. Robert White used the passing lane to overtake race favorite Callmemza (Jonathan Roberts) at the wire for her first win of the year, a 2:01 decision. Spunky MLT (Tony Morgan) finished third.

The freshman colt trotters take over with two $20,000 DSBF first leg divisions on the Veteran’s Day card on Tuesday.

Public choice Handsoffmycookie, one of two winners driven by Tim Tetrick, had just enough to outlast fast-finishing Kiss Dont Bite (Vic Kirby) in a 1:52.1 triumph in the $18,000 Mares Open Pace on the regular card. Embassy Seelster (Allan Davis) was right there third in the photo. JFE Enterprises own the winner, a 5-year-old Art Major-Observe Me mare who now has won $77,970 this year and $1,306,219 lifetime.

The fastest win on the program came when Corey Callahan drove Mach A Swish home in 1:50.2 for her fourth consecutive victory. It was Callahan’s fourth of a five win day. Rich Poillucci and CTC Stable own the Mach Three-Belinda Hanover 5-year-old who scored in the $13,000 Filly and Mare Winners Over Pace.
