ore pacing fillies were front and centre Thursday evening at Mohawk Racetrack as the Campbellville oval hosted seven OSS Grassroots divisions.


Delirium took home the hardware in her $18,000 assignment for the tandem of driver Sylvain Filion and trainer Marcel Barrieau. The speedy daughter of Artistic Fella-Hazel led the group through intervals of :26.4, :56 and 1:24.1 before using a :28.2 closing panel to win by 1-1/4 lengths over Regally Ready in a career-best clocking of 1:52.3. Stellllllla rounded out the top three finishers.


The homebred, who races for Hudson Standrdbrd Stb Inc of Hudson, Quebec, won for the first time this season and for the second time in her career. She’s banked more than $18,000 to date.


Kiss Me Or Not turned a second-over trip into a winning effort in the second division for driver Paul MacDonell. The homebred daughter of Mach Three-Kissing Rain watched Gram Rules and race favourite Eagle Molly take turns on the lead through fractions of :27.1, :56.2 and 1:24.3 before brushing off cover and drawing clear to win by 3-1/4 lengths over runner-up Galarina in 1:53.3. Always Sunday grabbed the show dough.


It was the first win of the season – and the second to date – for the career winner of $44,668. The youngster, who earned a new lifetime mark, races for owner/breeder/trainer David Snowden of Bowmanville, Ontario.


Her Own Land completed a front-end mission in the third division, winning in a lifetime best of 1:54 for driver James MacDonald. He sent the Dave Menary trainee through fractions of :26.3, :56.2 and 1:24.3 before stepping home in :29.2 to secure the win by a length over Shellyssilvermoon. Regil Meg came on late to finish third.


The daughter of Blissfull Hall-Her Own Art, who is owned by Hutt Racing Stable of Paoli, Pennsylvania, won for the second time in her career. She’s stashed away earnings in excess of $23,000.


Brescia Seelster stormed home from off-the-pace to win her OSS Grassroots division in a career-best clocking of 1:53.4 for driver Rick Zeron. The daughter of Camluck-Beryl Seelster watched Played By Anangel steal away with panels of :27.2, :57.3 and 1:26.1 before Zeron asked her to go into attack mode. Brescia Seelster kicked off cover and sprinted home in :26.3 to win by half a length over Seawind Ginger. Played By Anangel held on for third prize.


Trainer Dave Keyes shares ownership on the filly with Norm Keyes of Mississauga, Ontario. It was her first win of the year from four trips to the track, and the lion’s share of the purse bumped her bankroll to $37,240.


Bet Ya turned a sweet trip into her first stakes score for the team of driver Jack Moiseyev and trainer Frank Colville. The Jeremes Jet-Star Princess lass watched Premio Loco and An Angel Shes Not share the pacesetting duties through intervals of :27.1, :56.1 and 1:25.1 before Moiseyev called on the homebred to dig in. Bet Ya fired home in :27.3 to win by 2-1/4 lengths over An Angel Shes Not, while Can Art took home third money.


Nancy MacNevin of Essex and Joanne Colville of Moffat, Ontario share ownership on the photogenic filly, who improved her 2014 record to 4-1-1 from seven trips to the track. Her lifetime earnings climbed in excess of $40,000 with the win.


Goldies Mach notched her second consecutive victory – and first stakes score – thanks to her 1:53.3 triumph in the sixth division. James MacDonald got away third with the daughter of Mach Three-Goldies Cam, before rushing her to the lead in the backstretch. She whacked out middle panels of :56 and 1:25 before kicking home in :28.3 to win by a quarter of a length over Exhilarated. Big Treat took home third prize in the $18,000 affair.


Dave Menary trains the homebred for owner/breeder Larry Pollard of Harrow, Ontario. The two-time winner lifted her lifetime earnings to $71,110 with the win.


Ignite The Nite turned out to be the quickest of the divisional winners thanks to her 1:52.2 score in the final dash of the evening. Sylvain Filion marched the favourite to the front in the backstretch, and after tossing out middle fractions of :55.4 and 1:24.2 she used a :28-second final frame to win by 8-3/4 lengths over Mea Lilley Mark. A Round N About was a distant third.


Wayne McGean trains the homebred daughter of Badlands Hanover-Tara Artiste for Ratchford Stable NS of North Sydney, Nova Scotia. She’s put together a 4-for-19 record this year after compiling a 3-for-10 record last season. Her bankroll now stands at $53,158.
