g>Dover, DE --- Artistic Director, Hot Roddy and Golden Gun closed out Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund preliminaries with impressive victories in $20,000 2nd leg 3-year-old colt paces while Main A Dieu Too, a horse that was claimed only a few months ago, stepped up to win the $36,000 Preferred pace on a Spring-like Thursday, April 4 at Dover Downs.

With Brad Hanners driving, Artistic Director lived up to his odds-on favorite role breezing to a 1:53.1 victory, his third win in a row, in one of the prelims. Tina Clark and Kovach Stables own the Art Director-DeMotta Bing gelding. A 64-1 shot Spinfiniti and George Dennis finished second with Rust Load, driven by Ross Wolfenden at 44-1 third.

Hot Roddy, another prohibitive favorite, held off fast-closing Ilikethemtrashy and Jim Morand, second the entire mile, with Casino Bags handled by Vince Copeland taking third money. Rodney Long and Tim and trainer Joe Hundertpfund own the Roddy’s Bags Again-The Artful Diva brown colt who now has won nine of his 10 lifetime starts, with one second and $152,575 in purses.

In the other $20,000 DSBF prelim, The Wiz Kids Stable’s Golden Gun, a strong second last week, took the lead early and led the rest of the way for Montrell Teague to score a 1:55.1 triumph. Bags Of Money, reined by Ben Stafford Jr., was second with Sam Lucky and Wolfenden third. The Frank Deliberti-homebred is a gelding by Headmaster-Golden Delicious and now has won three of six races with three seconds for $58,000.

The top eight colt and gelding point getters after the two prelim legs return next Thursday for the $100,000 DSBF Final.

Main A Dieu Too continues as one of the top claims of the meet as Corey Callahan and the Cambest-Great Georgia gelding made good use of post 1 by following newcomer Ron Pierce-driven Sparky Mark from the start through fast fractions of :26 to the quarter and a :53 half. The three-quarters were passed in 1:20.3 before Callahan moved his 6-year-old to the outside with Nova Artist and Allan Davis right behind. The fast-fractions caught up with Sparky Mark as the field turned down the lane with the 12-1 shot Main A Dieu Too getting up for a lifetime record of 1:49.1 Nova Artist and Europan Union were second and third respectively. Gary Ewing owns and trains Main A Dieu Too, the winner of four races this year, 21 lifetime and $192,619 in his career.
