Quik Pulse Mondale amassed over $702,000 as a 3-year-old when a won a dozen races in 19 trips postward, including nine consecutive starts.
During that torrid streak the colt captured both the $235,000 American National at Balmoral (see photo above), the $340,000 Provincial Cup at Windsor and the $100,000 Motor City at Hazel Park.
The son of Jenna’s Beach Boy followed his Hayes Memorial championship that summer at Du Quoin with a Balmoral Free For All triumph on September 25 in a blistering time of 1:48 flat, at that time a track record, bested two years later by Holborn Hanover’s 1:49.4 clocking.
Quik Pulse Mindale also won his Breeders Crown elimination before finishing second to Western Terror in the $555,700 Final at Woodbine.
Health issues limited Quik Pulse Mindale to13 starts the next two years and he was retired to stud duties in Pennsylvania.
