g>East Rutherford, NJ--Well-bred 2-year-olds made their respective debuts Saturday morning (June 1) in baby races at Meadowlands Racetrack.


Race one saw Lifetime Pursuit, a homebred Cantab Hall filly from Queen Of Grace finish off a 1:57.2 mile with a 56.2 final half. Yannick Gingras drove this impressive lass for Jimmy Takter.

 

Takter himself drove the winner of race two to a 201.3 debut. That one is theDonato Hanover-Solveig fillynamed  Shake It Cerry, bred and owned by the Solveig Racing Partners.

 

It was Takter and Gingras again with Father Patrick in the third. The Cantab Hall-Gala Dream brother to Pastor Stephen roared by foes in 2:01 with his last quarter in 27.1 under no encouragement. The Patrick Stable owns.

 

Race four went right to the wire with the Chocolatier-Small Favors gelding Sweet Saviour (Brad Kramer) owned by the driver with Seidel and Mac Arthur, and Nuncio, an Andover Hall-Nicole Isabelle colt (Kevin Oscarsson) owned by Russell Williams finishing together in 2:00.4.

 

Brian Sears was in to drive John Grasso's Expressive Action to a 2:03.1 win in race 5. The Conway Hall-Yetta's Angel colt trotted home in 28.3.

 

Pacers took over in race 6. Instant Respect gained just that with an easy 1:58.1 score for the Brittany, Takter, Gingras combo. She is a big, pretty Art Major from Monkeys Can Sing.

 

Always B Miki looked great for trainer Joe Holloway and owner/breeder Roll The Dice Stables in race 7. Dave Miller drove the Always A Virgin-Artstopper colt to a 1:56.1 win with the final half in 55 seconds.

 

The last race saw the Somebeachsomewhere-Must See half brother to Well Said, So Surreal, win impressively in 1:55.4 with a 26.1 final panel. Jordan Strattondrove for trainer Ray Schnittker who owns the colt with Ted Gewertz, J.D. Kumit and Steve Arnold.

 

MOHAWK RACETRACK
Mohawk Racetrack was busy on Saturday morning as freshman pacers and trotters flocked to the Campbellville oval as six baby races surfaced on the oval.

 

He's Watching, a son of American Ideal-Baberhood, scored the most impressive win of the morning as he got under the wire in 1:56.4 for trainer and co-owner David Menary. A mere $3,000 yearling purchase, He's Watching used a 26.4 final frame to seal the win for co-owners Brad Gray and Michael Guerriero.

 

Menary also two more pacers to victory as Somebaysomewhere (2:02) and King Royalty (2:03.3) got under the wire first.

 

Somebaysomewhere, a son of Mach Three-Wondrous Grace, is owned by James C. Bafia and Eugene White.

 

King Royalty, a son of first-crop sire Classic Card Shark out of Royal Lady Les, was a $5,500 yearling purchase for owners Menary and Guerriero.

 

On the trotting side, trainer/driver/owner Eddie Green was busy as he sent out a pair of winners in Century Amadeus (2:05) and Valorscross (2:04.1)

 

Centrury Amadeus, a $6,500 yearling purchase, is by the first crop sire Federal Flex out of Allison Hall, while Valorscross is by Cornaro Dasolo-Poppea.

 

The other qualifying event went to Boomboom Ballykeel (2:00.4) for trainer-driver Cameron Mcknight. The son of Mach Three-Teig N Riley is owned by Ballykeel Racing.

 

The next 2-year-old qualifying session will be held on Saturday (June 8).
