In the second division, double-millionairess Anndrovette (Tim Tetrick, $2.80), eschewing an early three-hole from post No. 3, took over from Rock N Soul (Gingras). She then held that one's entrymate Ramalama (Matt Kakaley) at bay (:27.3, :57.3, 1:26, 1:53.3), winning by a length and a quarter. Rock N Soul was third.
Anndrovette, a six-year-old daughter of Riverboat King co-owned by Bamond Racing and Joe Davino and trained by PJ Fraley, won her first race in two seasonal starts. The exacta paid $5.60, with the triple (Handsoffmycookie [Dan Dube] fourth, third for purposes of this wagers) returning $9.60 (three favoured wagering entities in order).
In the third division it was an old-fashioned couldn't-separate-'em between pocket-sitting Royal Cee Cee N(Brennan, $2.30) and stubborn first-over Warrawee Koine (Bartlett, $8.70). Both--from post No. 2 and 4, respectively--picked off pacesetting Bettor B Lucky (Kakaley) before getting to the wire in 1:53.3. Bettor B Lucky was third.
Royal Cee Cee N, a seven-year-old Down Under daughter of Christian Cullen owned and trained by Mark Harder, is now one-for-three this season, Warrawee Koine, a seven-year-old Astreos ma'am trained by Tony O'Sullivan for owner Dr. Michael Wilson, has four wins in nine '13 tries.
The exactas paid $14.20 (Royal Cee Cee N first) and $51.50 (Warrawee Koine first), while the triples returned $23.60 and $96 with those same lasses first, respectively.
Next pole-squatting Camille (Gingras, $2.50) made it consecutive wins in this series, stuffing Unred Hanover (Ron Pierce) in behind, then going the distance (:27.4, :57, 1:26.1, 1:54.1). 'Unred,' beaten a half-length, held off Camille's barn buddy, Ginger and Fred (Kakaley), for second, with Collage (Brennan) fourth.
Camille, a five-year-old daughter of Camluck co-owned (as Burke Racing) by trainer Ron Burke, Weaver Bruscemi, M1 Stables and Jack Piatt, has those pair of wins in as many seasonal starts. The exacta paid $3, with the triple returning $13.60. The place pool in this race was up over $59,000.
In the fifth split, favourite Krispy Apple (Kakaley, $3.80), from the same co-owners and trainer who bring you Anndrovette, was away fourth from post No. 5. She took over down the backside the second time, then was a safe (length and a half) winner in 1:54.2 over 30-1 shot Feeling You (Tyler Buter). Rocklamation (Gingras), three-wide whole chasing the winner, ducked in and wound up third.
Krispy Apple, a five-year-old Western Ideal miss, is three-for-three (two-for-two in this series) to begin her season. The exacta paid $29.80, with the triple returning $64.50.
Friday night's $38,500 Open Handicap Trot was won by a second-up Likeabatoutahell (Brennan, $13.80) in 1:55.4.
Saturday's card features the second round of the George Morton Levy Memorial Pacing Series, going as five $50,000 divisions.
