Fort Washington, MD --- Rosecroft Raceway will continue live harness racing with a Summer-Fall meet scheduled to begin on Sept. 13. Post time is 6:40 p.m.

Qualifiers are scheduled for this coming Saturday (Sept. 6) at 11 a.m. Entries for qualifiers will be taken Friday (Sept. 5) between 8-10 a.m.

Rosecroft will continue to emphasize its on-going commitment to rebuild the Standardbred industry in Maryland by continuing to offer a 100 percent preference to Maryland connected horses in all races.

“Horsemen are encouraged to submit their racing applications as soon as possible,” said Chris McErlean, Vice President of Racing for Penn National Gaming, parent company of Rosecroft Raceway. “We are looking forward to another great meet at Rosecroft as we work to build on the successes of our previous meets. We are also moving to a direct deposit system for purse payments to provide our horsemen quicker access to their earnings this meet as well.”

One special focus at the beginning of the summer-fall meet will be newly added prep races for 2- and 3-year-old Maryland Sires Stakes eligible horses. The 3-year-old divisions will be raced on Sept. 13 and the 2-year-old division will be raced on Sept. 16. Each prep race will go for a purse of $3,000.

“This special set of prep races was scheduled in a joint effort between Rosecroft, the Maryland Standardbred Breeders Association and the Cloverleaf Standardbred Owners Association to further promote the Maryland Sires Stakes program. The efforts of the Maryland Standardbred Breeders Association to promote growth in the Maryland Sire Stakes program are admirable,” McErlean added.

The 2014 Rosecroft live racing meet will continue through Dec. 13 with live racing every Tuesday and Saturday with a 6:40 p.m. post time. Condition sheets for the Sept. 13 opener and Tuesday (Sept. 16) have been posted. Opening night will feature “Back to the Track” festivities including a free t-shirt giveaway to the first 400 guests starting at 6 p.m.
