North State Street Stable’s Monochromatic found her way to victory lane for the 10th time in 2013 thanks to a narrow triumph in Tuesday’s $19,000 Mares Open at Harrington Raceway.

In rein to Victor Kirby, Monochromatic was parked past the quarter pole in :26.3 before she eventually worked her way to the front. She threw down middle panels of :54.3 and 1:23.2 and then used a :28.3 closing quarter to win by a nose over Lorrie Please in 1:52. Third prize in the six-horse affair went to Cooking The Books. Monochromatic paid $3.20.

The performance was just one-fifth of second short of the Ladyfield’s 1:51.4 track record for older pacing mares. She established that feat in 2008.

Dylan Davis trains the eight-year-old daughter of Dream Away-Miss Ty, who won for the 43rd time in her career. The lion’s share of the purse lifted her lifetime loot to $711,550.
