Chesapeake City, MD --- Winbak Farm of New York has announced the addition of Betterthanchedder p,2,Q1:55.3s; 3,1:49.1s; 4,1:48f ($1,634,314) to its stallion lineup.
Betterthancheddar is the son of two Living Hall of Fame parents, Bettor's Delightand Lady Ashlee Ann. In 2012, at 4, he was the winner of the O'Brien Award for older pacing horses/geldings.
A tough racehorse, he was one of the top 3-year-olds in North America. His wins included the American-National final, Breeders Crown elimination and final, Cane Pace, Summertime Pacing Series elimination and the Windy City. He was second in the Little Brown Jug elimination and third in the final. He was also second in the Somebeachsomewhere.
At 4, Betterthancheddar won the Ben Franklin Pace elimination and $500,000 final (in a 1:48 world record), Bobby Quillen Memorial (in a 1:49.2 world record), Canadian Pacing Derby elimination and Des Smith Classic elimination. He was second in the Canadian Pacing Derby final and Mohawk Gold Cup.
In 2013, he was second in the Molson Pace and third in the Ben Franklin Pace elimination before suffering an injury.
Betterthanchedder will stand his first North American season at stud for a fee of $5,000.
