The two-time Breeders Crown winner scored by a head over pacesetting Monkey On My Wheel in 1:49.1.
Tactics were at work in this division as Brian Sears and Monkey On My Wheel were able to set a sensible pace of 26.3 and 55.1 with Shelliscape racing parked from the outset after starting from post 9.
Monkey On My Wheel accelerated the pace down the backstretch hitting three quarters in 1:22 with Shelliscape still on her flank and Anndrovette sitting tight in the pocket. Race favorite Rocklamation followed cover most of the way and kicked wide coming into the stretch.
Anndrovette put her head in front for driver Tim Tetrick coming up the passing lane late. Monkey On My Wheel kept her head in front of Shelliscape for the place spot. Rocklamation finished fourth.
Surviving the elimination and returning for the final were Camille, Swinging Beauty and Economy Terror. They will join Feeling You and Drop The Ball, the two mares that took byes and advance to the final.
Anndrovette, by Riverboat King-Easy Miss, is owned by Bamond Racing LLC and Joseph Davino. The victory, at odds of 6-5, was her 35th in an amazing racing career. P.J. Fraley trains Anndrovette as well as third-place finisher Shelliscape.
“The thing about Anndrovette is she likes to race. The more she races, the better she gets. When she missed too many races in a row she kind of gets lackadaisical,” said Tetrick.
“They’ve tried to kill her a couple of times this year but she keeps bouncing back.”
