In a very impressive manner, the Jimmy Takter-trained Maven, driven by Johnny Takter, won at Solvalla in Sweden on Saturday afternoon (March 28).

Although she had to overcome post position eight, Maven got the lead and then had to hold off a headstrong M T Harmony. Maven was a very easy winner by five lengths in 1:54.2f (mile rate) over the 1-5/16 mile distance in a race restricted to mares at Solvalla.

That win earned her not only an invitation to the Olympic Trot in late April in Gothenburg, but also for the Elitlopp at Solvalla in late May.

"I went into the race with a good feeling and thought she was a sure thing, but as we got a headstrong horse up on the outside and the first 1,000 meters went very fast -- too fast, I thought -- I feared that she would tire," Johnny Takter said. "But Maven was still full of trot when we went for home and I have never won as easy in such a good record over 1-5/16 miles as I did with Maven today. She was just amazing!"
