Saratoga Springs, NY --- Twin B Spy (Shadow Play) scored a first over victory in the $28,800 Gary Kamal Memorial Series final on Saturday night (Nov. 1) at Saratoga Casino and Raceway.
The Heidi Rohr-trained 3-year-old was a beaten favorite in each of the two legs of the series but finished a close second and a close third in both tries.
On Saturday night, driver Bruce Aldrich Jr. moved the race’s 8-5 favorite first over and cruised past his rivals to secure a convincing victory in 1:54.4 on a chilly night in Saratoga. Rock N Joe (Billy Dobson) followed the top one’s cover and ended up finishing second while Cheyenne Louie (Harry Landy) came on for third.
Twin B Spy is owned by Michele Nelson.
The series was in memory of longtime horseman Gary Kamal who passed away several years ago. Kamal raced for a large portion of his career at the Spa.
In the series’ consolation race, I Am Will (Yankee Skyscaper) overcame post position eight to score for trainer-driver Phil Fluet in 1:55.4.
Live racing continues on Sunday afternoon at Saratoga with a first post time of 12:15 p.m.
