Race favourite Bellas Spunkin and second-choice Overnight Hit recorded wins in Tuesday’s second leg of the Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund for three-year-old trotting fillies at Dover Downs.


Allan Davis drove Bellas Spunkin right to the lead and cut all the fractions en route to an easy 2:01.1 victory in the first of two $20,000 divisions. Oso Grateful (George Dennis) was second from the start with Gogh Gogh (Tony Morgan) third.

Art Stafford, Jr. sat on the rail with Overnight Hit while favourite Kelseys Commando (Vic Kirby) took the lead on the backstretch. Trainer/driver Stafford pulled the Giant Hit-Overnight Rail filly to the outside and tracked down the leader to post a 1:58.2 victory for owners Stafford and Wally Starky. Kelseys Commando held on for second while Even Brighter (Bret Brittingham) closed to take third.


The DSBF top eight point-getters return next week for $100,000 finals.
