>DOVER, Del--- Elite Awards, Casino Bags Carlo, both unbeaten three-year-olds pacers after two $20,000 preliminaries, head a strong field of sophomores in the $100,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) Male Pace final. In addition to a powerful $36,000 Preferred and a $33,000 Delaware Special on the final card of Dover Downs 45th season on Thursday, April 10. Post time is 4:30 p.m.
 

George Dennis will drive Karen Walls’ Elite Awards, winner of last October’s $100,000 freshman final at Harrington, was an easy winner of both DSBF prelim legs. Cavalli Pazzi Stables’ Casino Bags Carlo and Vince Copeland was also impressive in both his winning prelims. Tim Tetrick drove Art Retreat to victory and Virginia Louthan’s homebred Go Big Spinder, handled by Ron Pierce, both won one prelim each.
 

The rest of the fast field of Delaware-sired male pacers is led by Diane and Joel Halpern’s West Star Director and Ben Stafford Jr. with two second-place finishes, Winbak Farm’s Hawker and Jeff Fout, Tom Ireland and trainer Andrew Stafford’s Forced Passage, piloted by Ross Wolfenden and Jim and Phil Mango and driver Bryan Truitt’s Bobbie Power Play, who must leave from post 8.
 

Joan  Hamstead’s Lewiebyalength (Corey Callahan) and Mike Gannon’s By A Noggin (Vic Kirby) are the program favorites in the $20,000 DSBF consolation.
 

New track record holder, Bandolito, co-owned by trainer-driver Daryl Bier, Charles Dombeck and David Bier, the fastest pacer in the world this year after last week’s 1:48 performance meets KDM Stable’s Tarpon Hanover (David Miller), a 1:49 winner two weeks ago and John Cancelliere’s Emeritus Maximus (Pierce) who has won three straight features at the track, are among the select field in the $36,000 Preferred pace. The Burke Racing, Weaver-Bruscemi, Karr and Collura-owned Take It Back Terry (Wolfenden) and Baron Racing’s Summer Camp (Tetrick), from the rail, complete the fast lineup.

 

Eddie and Kathy Davis’ Nova Artist (Allan Davis), Mary Ann Larrimore’s Believe This Bob (Pierce) and John Dayton’s Just A Jolt (Tetrick) hook up again this week in. Included in the $33,000 Delaware Special. Green Racing and JJ&M Stable All Stienam (Jim Morand). Kovach Stable’s Feel Like A Fool (Dennis), Mike Horn and Bobby Rice Sr.’s Dirty Devil (David Miller) and Brit Evans and Foulk Stable’s Full Of Sand, from the rail are the upset contenders.
In addition, a strong undercard is on the program.
