Sing Like An Angel survived a first over journey to win this week's $10,500 Fillies & Mares Open Handicap Pace on Friday at Century Downs Racetrack and Casino.

 

Ordered outside of her six rivals behind the gate with Brandon Campbell aboard, Sing Like An Angel settled into fifth-place early on and went first over to defeat the popular pacesetter Rummys Command (:27.4, :57.1, 1:26) by two and a quarter lengths in 1:54.3. Sing Like An Angel was the 3-1 third choice on the toteboard and paid $8 to win. Rummys Command held on for second over pocket-sitter Skade and Feelin Flush, who tracked stablemate Sing Like An Angel's cover.

 

The win was Sing Like An Angel's third in a row in the Mares Open and fifth overall this meet. Trainer Travis Cullen shares ownership of the five-year-old Bettors Delight mare with Jodie Cullen and Keith and Margaret Hannah. Sing Like An Angel's victory also extends her trainer's win streak in the the top distaff class at Century Downs to seven in a row.
