Sophomore pacing filly Ms Mac N Cheese overcame an outside post position and defeated older rivals for her first victory in the $30,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred class at Woodbine Racetrack on Friday night.

Ms Mac N Cheese was a late-closer, rallying home to win by a head over Precocious Beauty and Marlee B for driver Trevor Henry and trainer Richard Moreau.

Tessa Seelster, the only other sophomore filly in the race, was the early front-runner as she led the field of seven through a :27.4 opening panel before Bet Ya looped around her to take over as they neared the half-mile mark in :56.3. Down the backstretch, Marlee B tipped first over from fourth with Precocious Beauty following her cover and Ms Mac N Cheese outside third over. With the outer flow developing, Tessa Seelster was flushed from the pocket approaching the third quarter mark in 1:25.2. Turning for home, the second tier fanned out across the track with Ms Mac N Cheese closing the quickest on the far outside for the 1:54.2 triumph.

The Badlands Hanover filly was a two-time Ontario Sires Stakes Gold winner this season for owner David Ratchford of North Sydney, N.S. She has now won seven of her 19 sophomore starts and has banked $293,655 in purses.

Ms Mac N Cheese paid $7.50 to win as the slight second choice in the wagering to Precocious Beauty.
