DOVER, Del. --- Triple Bottom Line pulled a 7-1 upset to win the $100,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) Two-Year-Old Filly Trot while Wiggle It Jiggleit downed eight rivals for his 21st victory of the season in the Hap Hansen Progress Pace at Dover Downs on Monday, Nov. 23.
Veteran trainer-driver Jeff Fout found the passing lane to his liking overtaking dueling leaders Cicada’s Song, who cut the mile for Carlo Poliseno from outside post 8, and challenger Epic Smash and Pat Berry who battled on the outside from the backstretch on until the final strides when Triple Bottom Line flew down the lane to post a 2:00.4 victory. It was the second trip to the winner’s circle in eight starts for the three-time second –place finisher bred and owned by Winbak Farm. The CR Commando-Current Yield freshman now has won $75,800 this campaign. Cicada’s Song and Epic Smash were second and third respectively.
While the DSBF $100,000 final was the biggest purse event on the card, one of the biggest crowds of the early meet came to see George Teague Inc.’s Wiggle It Jiggleit. And they were not disappointed. The dark-bay world champion conditioned by Clyde Francis, rolled away from the starting gate to take the lead. Twenty-four-year-old driver Montrell Teague never looked back negotiating a :26 opening quarter, :54.4 half and took his eight foes to the three-quarters in 1:22.1. A :26.4 final panel gave the Mr. Wiggles-Mozzi Hanover offspring a decisive victory. A Delaware-sired 58-1 shot, Remember Me VK sat second the mile and stayed there for driver Eric Goodell. With Dealt A Winner and David Miller, who took a shot at the leader on the backstretch holding on for third.
Montrell Teague also drove the winner of the $20,000 DSBF Consolation trot steering owner-trainer Kevin Switzer’s Jasmine K, a Master Lavec-Visioness K filly home in 2:04.4. Rhythm N Blues (Ross Wolfenden) was second in front of Devlin (Poliseno), third.
Marchs Miller piloted Swing City, the only three-year-old in the $15,500 3,4&5-Year-Old Male pace on the undercard. Nick Surick, trains and co-owns the United Ace-Cyber Cities gelding with R.S.Ruffolo and Ervin Miller Stables. Brody (Sean Bier) and B’s Weddie (Ross Wolfenden were second and third.
Corey Callahan had a triple while Montrell Teague, Tim Ettrick and Allan Davis, each won two races during the card. Trainer Dylan Davis and owner Tom Lazzaro had triples while trainer Wayne Givens had a double.
On Tuesday, another $100,000 DSBF title is on the line for colt and gelding trotters.
Monday through Thursday racing begins at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday are dark live racing days at Dover.
Downs. There is no live racing on Thursday, Thanksgiving Day.
