Dover, DE ---- I Got Spunk, Spunky MLT and Penny Paratrooper recorded victories in second leg action in the Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund freshman filly trots while Mach A Wish made it five in a row, taking the $18,000 Filly and Mares Open Pace at Dover Downs on Monday (Nov. 17).

Corey Callahan guided I Got Spunk to her second win in three starts, scoring a decisive 2:01.1 victory over a track rated as ‘sloppy’ in the first of three DSBF divisions. Leigh Raymer owns and trains the Super Punk-Gogetitdun filly. She has earned $29,000 in her five races. Star Hit (Tony Morgan) closed strongly for second in front of Cuddle Punk (Allan Davis).

Another daughter of Super Punk, Marvin and David Meyer’s Spunky MLT, won the second $20,000 event. Tony Morgan drove the Super Punk-LT Feds brown filly to her first win of the season in 2:03. Conditioned by Paul Wojtowicz, Spunky MLT has never been out of the money in four career starts. My Fire Cloud Too (Allan Davis) came on to finish second. Sparkle Pants (Eddie Dennis) was third.

Penny Paratrooper made it four wins in five races, notching a 2:02.2 victory in the other $20,000 DSBF prelim. The CR Commando-CR Penny Lane lass rolled to a six length score over Callmemza (Jon Roberts). Sign N Drive (Tim Tetrick) was the show horse.

The top eight point-getters after two prelims race in the $100,000 DSBF final, set for next Monday.

Mach A Wish remained unbeaten since late September as Corey Callahan piloted the Mach Three-Belinda Hanover 5-year-old to her fifth consecutive victory. The globetrotting mare started her streak at Harrah’s Philadelphia, then to Pocono Downs, next Yonkers and the last two starts at Dover Downs. Stakes seasoned filly Katie Said (Andy Miller) was second and 40-1 shot Paradise Lost (Ross Wolfenden) was third.

A pair of $20,000 DSBF male trots top the Tuesday Dover Downs card. Monday through Thursday racing begins with a 4:30 p.m. post. There is no racing Friday and Saturday. Sunday racing starts at 5:30 p.m.
