Dover.DE --- Epic Smash, Chestnut Chic and Miss Baltimore triumphed in Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund 1st leg for freshman Filly Trotters while Howard Taylor’s Major Uptrend made the winner’s circle for the 10th time this season recording a 1:49.3 victory in the $18,500 3, 4 & 5-Year-Old Open/Handicap pace during an intermittent rain shower on Monday, Nov. 9 at Dover Downs. Tim Tetrick won five races (nine in the last two programs) and Tony Morgan added two wins to move into third on the list of all-time leading drivers by wins, now 15,225.


The fastest DSBF prelim belonged to Epic Smash, an easy winner in 201.2 with Pat Berry driving the Political Briefing-Giant Smash filly for Craparotta and Berry Racing. It was the second win of the year for the $73,208 winner. Press Corp (Art Stafford Jr.) and Henny Penny (Carlo Poliseno) were second and third respectively.


With program favorite Cicada’s Song scratched, Chestnut Chic won her maiden victory in the first $20,000 DSBF prelim. A chestnut daughter of Impel Hanover-Comical Dream scored a 2:03.1 victory. Princess Politics (Wayne Long) was next in front of Harper’s Ego (Jason Thompson). 


Miss Baltimore (Tony Morgan) was strongest in the stretch to notch a 2:05.1 win in the second DSBF trot. The win was also the first of her career for the Master Lavec-Country Inn freshman trained by Kyle Moore for owner Don Marine. Triple Bottom Line (Jeff Fout) came home second. 


The 2nd and last DSBF prelims for 2-year-old filly trotters are set for next Monday (Nov. 16) .The top eight point-getters return for the $100,000 final on Nov. 23. 


With track defending champion Corey Callahan in the bike, Major Uptrend, a 4-year-old altered son of Somebeachsomewhere-Tricky Tooshie turned back eight rivals to win the Monday feature race. After a tough front-pacing loss at the wire last week, there was no stopping Major Uptrend, who used a  :27.2 final panel to insure victory. Four Staces (Vic Kirby) finished second with Little Ben (Tim Tetrick) third.


Two $20,000 DSBF freshman colt 1st leg prelims and a $15,500 3, 4 & 5-year-old pace top Tuesday racing.


A $5,000 Guaranteed Pick-4 pool is now featured daily. And by popular request, the Winner’s Circle Buffet is back in the Winner’s Circle Restaurant. 


Monday through Thursday racing begins at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday are dark racing days at Dover Downs.
