Dover, DE---11-1 Quik Magic made good use of a two-hole trip behind favorite and leader Nova Artist and closed strongly to win a 1:52.2 photo finish in the Sunday (Feb.21) feature race at Dover Downs. Ross Wolfenden had a three-bagger.

 

Nova Artist (Allan Davis) took the early lead and fashioned all the fractions until a trio of rivals roared up to challenge nearing the finish line. Major Bucks (Jonathan Roberts) was first to challenged coming alongside while Quick Magic had the most speed for driver Vic Kirby and poked his nose first at the wire. It was the second straight trip to the winner’s circle for the Quik Pulse Mindale-Magical Life gelding owned and trained by Ed Gannon Jr. The victory was third in two months for Quik Magic who won for 15th time in his career earing $128.988 lifetime. Major Bucks held on for second in front of Nova Artist.

 

Another quick winner, this time Kwik Mac, a McArdle-Kwik Dial gelding, won the sub feature for 3,4&5-Year-Old pacers turning in a 1:54.2 success. Russ Foster drive the  Eric Ell trainee owned by Jim Jennings to a lifetime fastest victory wire-to wire. Wishes In The Rain (Sean Bier) was runner-up. Sick  Rain (Art Stafford Jr.) was third.

 

In addition to Wolfenden’s three winning drives, Montrell Teague, trainer Clyde Francis and part owner George Teague combined for both ends of the daily double when Illtakeitfromhere, co-owned with K&R Racing and Western Lynx in the second co owned with Annelis Horn won the 1st and 2nd races.

 

Newcomer Lucan Hanover takes on last week’s feature winner Dapper Dude, Mustang Art and Bushwacker in the $30,000 Preferred Handicap on a strong Monday program.

 

Monday through Thursday racing begins at 4:30 p.m. Dover Downs is dark on Friday and Saturday. This Sunday is the last Sunday of them meet. Post  time is 5:30 p.m.
