This time, it was with Next Success, a 1:52.4 winner of the colt and gelding final after the foursome had combined on Tuesday, for Use Your Noodle’s filly pace winner, at Dover Downs.

It was closing day of the track's 47th season and the annual meet ending awards were also handed out on Thursday (April 14). For the seventh consecutive season, Corey Callahan was leading driver.

Dylan Davis won the leading trainer title for the third straight season. Wiggle It Jiggleit won the Delaware Valley U.S.Harness Writer’s Association’s Horse of the Meet award.

Next Success began his charge to catch race-favorite John’s Dream and Tim Tetrick in mid-backstretch. Morand pulled the altered son of Veeza-Quick Question out of fourth and hastily reached the leader on the final turn. After a short stretch racing together Next Success took over and sped to his second straight victory lowering his lifetime mark to 1:52.4. John’s Dream held second in front of Power To Perform and Tony Morgan, third.

Stellar City, owned by Howard Taylor and Rich Lombardo, won the $20,000 DSBF consolation. The Rustler Hanover-Armbro Summer gelding trained by Dylan Davis with Tim Tetrick in the bike notched a 1:53.4 lifetime record beating Seboomook Dreamer (Allan Davis) and Canthelpbutwin (Ross Wolfenden), second and third respectively, to the finish line.

On the regular program, driver, Callahan, trainer, Davis, and owner Howard Taylor joined forces for another win when Secretsoftheknight won his second in-a-row taking the $11,000 Male pace in 1:51.2. The Mach Three-Doc’s Reward seven-year-old was followed home by Feel Like a Fool (Tetrick), second, and Movie Sequel (Vince Copeland), third.

Jim Morand, Corey Callahan and Vic Kirby had two winning drives each. Trainer Dylan Davis and owner Howard Taylor had doubles.

Dover Downs would like to thank all its horsemen, the harness media and its fans throughout North America for their support. Live Racing in Delaware continues a week from Monday, April 25 at Harrington Raceway.
