A pair of Preferred events went postward Saturday afternoon at Exhibition Park Raceway, and when the dust settled Fall Bliss and Magical Alex came away victorious in their respective assignments.

Fall Bliss extended his winning streak to three-in-a-row thanks to his front-stepping score in the $1,350 Preferred 1 Handicap Pace. In rein to his trainer, Dr. Mitchell Downey, Fall Bliss hustled to the lead from Post 3 and the son of Blissfull Hall-Fall Festival never looked back through panels of :29.2, :59.4 and 1:30. A :30.2 closing quarter was more than enough for him to win by 4-1/4 lengths over Haunto. Momara rounded out the field in the three-horse affair.

Michael Downey of Saint John, NB owns the 28-time winner who has banked in excess of $185,000 in his career. He’s won six of this year’s nine assignments.

Magical Alex was a wire-to-wire winner in the $1,100 Preferred 2 Pace for driver Todd Trites. The veteran marched the field through fractions of :30.1, 1:00.4 and 1:31 before smoking home in :29.4 to win by 2-1/4 lengths over Ideal Ticket in 2:00.4. City Girl Hanover was third.

Robert Macneil of Saint John, NB owns and trains the nine-year-old son of Harrods-Magical Ball. The 48-time winner is now 3-for-9 this season. He’s closing in on $60,000 in lifetime earnings.
