The Sunday night (June 26) feature at Running Aces was an $11,000 Open Handicap Pace, and the perseverance of Officernagentleman paid off for his connections in the lane.

Ideal Art (who was driven by Steve Wiseman) charged off the gate to the early lead, then yielded to TheBestofJoel (Tim Maier) past the :27.1 opening quarter. The lineup remained that way through the next two splits (:56.1 and 1:24.3) before the cavalry came charging down the lane.

When the dust settled, it was Officernagentleman (Brian Detgen) who pushed his head to the front at the wire. He bested a hard-charging Bettor In The Bank (Dean Magee) and Ideal Art held third. The mile was clocked in 1:53.2.

The victory was Officernagentleman’s 10th from 25 starts this season. The eight-year-old Royal Mattjesty gelding pushed his seasonal bankroll to $47,875 for his owners A Piece of The Action, LLC and Trainer Tim Maier.

The Winnin Dollar (by SOS Lunar Eclipse) extended his seasonal unbeaten streak to four in a $7,500 Minnesota-sired three-year-old gelding trot. He was heavily favoured on the tote board and went on to trot to a 2:01.4, wire-to-wire win for driver Nick Roland and trainer Justin Anfinson.

Running Aces’ next live card is scheduled for Tuesday, June 28 at 6:00 p.m. (CDT).
