Berlin, MD --- The sophomore Maryland Sire Stakes July Series finals were held on Sunday (July 31) at Ocean Downs.


The non-wagering card opened with Speed It (Cam’s Rocket) lowering his own stakes record to 1:58.3 for trotting colts/geldings with Jim Morand in the bike. The pair cut the mile, opening distance to the field at every pole with Righteous Renegade finishing second. Richard Hans owns, trains and bred the winner.


In the trotting fillies race, the dual between Rock The Game (Cam’s Rocket) and Star Rose continued with Rock The Game stopping the clock in 2:01.1 this week. Breakaway Racing owns the filly, Shaun Callahan trains and Corey Callahan was the reinsman.Fastestgirlaround (Dontloseyourdayjob) and pilot Frank Milby swept the July series for pacing fillies with a 1:58.3 mile over a fast closing Mo Power. Brian Callahan trains and co-owns the filly with Gloria Kinnamon, who is also the breeder.


The pacing colts/geldings finished the early card with the Winbak Farm owned and bred Steal N Go sweeping the series. Steal N Go (Bonnie And Clyde) cut the nice even mile in 2:00.4 for driver/trainer Jeff Fout with What I Say Goes getting up for place.Maryland Standardbred Fund stakes resume on Sunday (Aug. 7) with the 2-year-olds going to the post.
