Berlin, MD --- A 2-year-old Maryland Sires Stakes trotting colt and gelding prelim opened the Sunday (July 10) card at Ocean Downs with a non-wagering event.

Hybrid Henry, a Cam’s Rocket-Give Em The Boot trotter owned, trained and bred by Richard Hans was piloted to his second lifetime victory by Brian Burton, once again stopping the clock in 2:01.1. Les Givens was second with LG’s Hotshoeboy.

Local reinsman Bill Long picked up the driving assignment behind Holy Trout (Holy Guacamolie-Dancing Trout) in the filly trot. The pair left out of the gate, widening the lead at every pole before crossing the wire 5-3/4 lengths in front of Camita in 2:03 for owner/breeder Dr. William Solomon.

In the first wagering event the pacing colt and geldings came to the stage with the favorite Toms Tarzan flying out of the gate to cut the mile. Driver Jim Morand put Adios Muchachos (Cam’s Rocket-Mary Hail A Cab) on their back, pulling at the head of the stretch with only a photo to separate them in the 1:59 mile. In the end Adios Muchachos was victorious for owner/breeder Michael Hans and gave trainer Richard Hans his second win of the night.

Race three was the first division for pacing fillies. Cheap Aint Fast, from the second crop of Dontloseyourdayjob and out of Sand Calady, made good use of the inside post, cutting the well rated 2:01 mile for driver Frank Milby. Goodfridaymiracle was up for place. Brian Callahan trains the winner for owner/breeder Gloria Kinnamon.

The final stake of the night was the second division for filly pacers. Miss Valerie (Allie’s Western-Flannel Yankee) and Roger Plante Jr. combined to give her a perfect three wins in three starts. Plante sent her out of the four hole right to the lead, letting everyone else file in behind until the last turn when they started to pull away, opening up a 4-1/2 length lead at the wire in 2:01.2 for owners LeBlanc Racing, Count The Money Stable and William Lutz. Steve LeBlanc is the trainer and Tom and Linda Winebrener are the breeders. Fast Aint Cheap was second.
