New Patrol scored his third win in-a-row besting eight rivals in a career fastest 1:52.3 victory in the Sunday feature (March 8) at Dover Downs. Trace Tetrick and Vic Kirby had three winning drives.
In the Delaware 4&5-Year-Old Male pace, George Dennis moved New Patrol into the lead in front of the grandstand and when Sentosa Island broke stride scattering a part of the field, the leader was never was headed keeping his unbeaten record in three starts since arriving from Woodbine, in Ontario. Frank Pitts owns the Armbro Deuce-Triple Flip gelding trained by Kevin Lare. The win was the third by New Patrol in seven races this year. JJ Nitro (Eddie Davis Jr.) was runner-up. Art On The Beach (Trace Tetrick) took third.
Trace Tetrick and Vic Kirby racked up driving triples. Eddie Davis Jr. had a double. Tony Morgan, also had two wins, to raise his career total to 14,981 winning drives. Only four others in history - Dave Palone, nearing 16,000 wins, Germany’s Heinz Wewering, Herve Filion and Cat Manzi - have reached the 15,000-win milestone.
Monday is female pacing day at Dover Downs with Spin Vision looking for a fifth straight win in the $14,000 feature.
