g>Dover, DE — Winter weather was threatening in the Wednesday (Nov. 14) evening sky at Dover Downs, but the young trotters didn’t seem to care.

The first filly race, a non-wagering elimination, was won in 2:04.2 by Bella’s Party Punk (Super Punk-Nubella).  Driven by Art Stafford, Jr and trained by a jubilant Shae Vandervort,  she won by a half-length over Star Time, who was bred by Marv Bachrad.

Race one (2nd division) saw the Harrington DSBF-Final winner, Disco Soliel (CR Commando-CR Penny Lane) lead from gate- to-wire to win in 2:03.4 for driver Carlo Poliseno and owner Rod Allen.  Dark Dutchess was a half-length back from the winner.

Race two, the first division for colts and geldings, was won by Rich N Royal (Yankee Royalty-Adore Eleanor) for trainer/driver Kim Vincent and owner Bart Cavanagh’s Providence West of Media, PA.  It was Rich N Royal’s maiden victory in 2:01.2, a neck in front of Dr Grinch.

In the fourth race, the second division for the boys, Embrace The Grind (Keystone Activator-My Embrace) got his fourth victory in the last five starts for driver Jonathan Roberts and owner/trainer Bobby Glassmeyer finishing 5-1/4 lengths ahead of Say Gesundheit.

Round two will be next Wednesday (Nov. 21), the night before the Thanksgiving holiday. The final will be contested on Thursday (Nov. 29) in conjunction with Dover Down’s signature event, the Hap Hansen Progress Pace, named for the late Brandywine Raceway president.
