Filly Returns $105.50 In NYSS

Warm weather aided quick race times for three-year old pacing fillies in New York Sire Stakes late closers on Tuesday, July 12 at Monticello Raceway. A 1:56:3 clocking by Tiamo was the fastest of the six $12,300 divisions.

“She didn’t want to get out of there very fast, but once she passed the quarter pole she began to grab the bit,” Tiamo's victorious driver, Stephane Bouchard, said about the Artiscape filly after her off-the-pace victory. “We had to come a long way but she (Tiamo) was strong all the way to the wire.”

Bouchard also steered American Ideal filly Betterluxnexttime to a gate-to-wire win in 1:57:1 in another of the NYSS splits. He went on to win the final late closer split of the afternoon with Western Terror lass Western Kerry, who stopped the clock in 1:57:3.

Pilot Corey Braden also enjoyed success in the late-closing dashes, as he won two of the splits. One of the wins came with 50-1 American Ideal distaffer Handleyourscandal, who returned $105.50 on a successful Win wager after stopping the clock in 1:57:2. Braden's second NYSS win came with Pro Bono Best filly Sakras Mo, who stopped the clock in 1:57:4.

Bettors Delight filly Ride A Cowboy was also victorious in late-closer action, as pilot Jimmy Devaux guided her to the 1:58 win.
