Trotters were asked to work some overtime in Thursday’s $17,700 Trot-A-Thon at Kawartha Downs, and when the dust settled it was CR Sky Flyer who prevailed by a neck in the 1-1/4 mile affair.

The Herb Holland-trained CR Sky Flyer latched onto cover for most of the trotting tilt, and then made a three-wide move late in the mile for driver James MacDonald en route to picking up the lion’s share of the purse. The eight-year-old son f CR Renegade stopped the teletimer in 2:32, defeating Northern Acorn and Alltheway Abra in the process.

Sent off as a 7-1 outsider, CR Sky Flyer improved his 2011 record to 5-3-2 in 20 starts with the win for his owner, Carolyn MacIsaac of Milton, ON. The 16-time winner bumped his lifetime earnings to $159.976 with the win.
