Moving Badlands Hanover to Ontario is paying multiple dividends,” Badlands Hanover Syndicate Manager John Celii has said. “We have experienced overwhelming support in both in the breeding shed and at the annual yearling sales. Since moving to Winbak-Ontario in 2009, 'Badlands' had bred a full book of mares three years in a row. Equally important, the quality of mares has been significantly enhanced.”

Celii also said, “Many factors have contributed to this recent success. Badlands Hanover has proven that his progeny can successfully compete on the Grand Circuit evidenced by his millionaire performers Tug River Princess, Badlands Nitro and Mr Wiggles. In addition, his son, Delmarvalous, won the Adios and the Oliver Wendell Holmes in 2010 and his multiple stakes-winning daughter, Laughandbehappy, has also been very successful. Equally important, was bringing Eric Cherry’s (Doc’s Farm) into the Badlands Hanover Syndicate. They have bred many of their top brood mares to Badlands, as well as, have attracted many other owners of top brood mares. Over the past three years, Badlands has served many World Champions and millionaires, such as Moving Pictures, Oohs N Aahs, Carolina Sunshine, Miss Easy, French Panicure, etc. Finally, Badlands has bred a full sister in blood to the dam of Rock N Roll Heaven, a full sister to the dam of Keystone Horatio, and a half sister to World Champion Rainbow Blue. Clearly, the quality of mares that he has bred since moving to Ontario, has had a major impact on his yearling sales success."

Over the last five years, Badlands yearlings sold averaged $11,562. In 2011, 51 yearlings were sold to date at an average of $28,000, an increase of 142 per cent. At the recent Standardbred Horse Sale at Harrisburg, 21 Badlands yearlings sold at an average price of $34,857, an increase of 201 percent over the last five-year average. “This increase in the number of yearlings sold and the significant increase in yearling prices for an established stallion is somewhat unprecedented in our industry, especially in this economy,” Celli stated.

Celii continued, “This has been an exciting week for Badlands Hanover. In addition to the sales success of his Ontario based yearlings, George Teague, Jr. and I also announced standing two of his sons, Badlands Nitro (Winbak-New York) and Delmarvalous (Delaware Valley College-Pennsylvania)”.

The Badlands Hanover Syndicate would like to thank the North American breeders and yearling buyers for their outstanding support.

In 2012, Badlands Hanover will stand at Winbak Canada at $6,000.
