Dover, DE – Moments Of Joy shocks in the Mares Open Pace at Dover Downs on Wednesday night. Moments of Joy and Victor Kirby left quickly and put the field to sleep. As the field remained in single file, Kirby and Moments of Joy were able to nurse a :29.1 quarter while Valuable Art remained in the pocket.


Baron Remy was the first to pull down the backstretch and pressed the leader through a :27.2 quarter. Major Occasion A was towed into a second-over journey but was gapping. Nearing the three-quarter pole, driver Dexter Dunn felt a sense of urgency and tipped three wide. Major Occasion A stalled and was unresponsive to Dunn’s asking. Rockin The Boys A remained on the rail and Bettor Joy N mounted a charge from last.


Moments of Joy paced the mile in 1:51.4 over a good surface and won by a length and a quarter at odds of 27-1. Moments Of Joy a $6,000 yearling purchase is owned and trained by Bryan Truitt. Finishing second was the pocket-sitting Valuable Art for driver Corey Callahan and his dad Nick Callahan.
