Keith Oliver utilized Frenchfrysnvinegar tactical speed by rushing her to the lead from Post 8. After chopping out an opening panel in :26.4, she came under attack - and eventually gave way - to Take My Picture. That foe hit the half :55.4 and the three-quarter pole in 1:24.1 before feeling the wrath of Frenchfrysnvinegar. That mare ripped out of the two-hole and summoned up a :28-second final quarter en route to the half-length score over Take My Picture, with Windsong Geant a hard-closing third.
Jeff Gillis trains the seven-year-old daughter of Angus Hall-Gugus for owner David Smith of Rockwood, ON. Both Gillis and the mare are finalists in their respective categories at the upcoming O’Brien Awards. Frenchfrysnvinegar, a 24-time winner, is now 2-for-3 this season. The $19,000 payday pushed her lifetime earnings to $654,575.
