For the second consecutive Wednesday night, Mattador D (Shotgun Scott) set a lifetime mark in the Wednesday evening's (March 21) feature harness racing at Saratoga Casino and Raceway.

The Melissa Beckwith trained pacer scored a win on the front end in the $6,000 condition-claimer on a warm March night in the Spa City.

Mattador D was bet down to 2-5 and raced like an odds-on favorite, edging away in the stretch with Mark Beckwith in the sulky.

The four year old set a new lifetime mark of 1:54.3, just a week after posting a 1:55 career best.

The victory was one of three on the evening for reinsman Mark Beckwith who scored with Escape Attack, also trained by his wife Melissa, and trotter Super Manning, who prevailed for the second consecutive start.

Defending leading driver Billy Dobson also secured a driving hat trick on Wednesday night as he and Beckwith continue to jockey for second place in the standings beneath Jim Morrill Jr who is off to a sensational start in 2012.

Live racing resumes on Friday night at Saratoga with a first post time set for 7:05pm.
